Chris qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 and was made a Partner of Humphries Kirk in April 2017.
Chris is the Head of the firm’s Court of Protection (COP) Team in our Dorchester office, assisting clients and colleagues with the following as well as any work that requires his input:
Alongside this, he has a particular interest in residential care funding issues. Chris has successfully acted for clients in deliberate deprivation of asset cases and valuation disputes with local authorities. He is also able to advise on aspects of NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding.
Chris is passionate about the connection between fraud and elder abuse and Powers of Attorney. He regularly gives presentations about Lasting Powers of Attorney and has been described as a ‘knowledgeable and engaging’ speaker.
Chris holds an undergraduate degree in Law (LLB) and a master’s degree (LLM) in Health Law from the Nottingham Law School. Consequently, although he practices in general Private Client work he also has an interest in mental capacity issues which are very prevalent in matters relating to Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications.
Chris is a former National Director of SFE, a nationwide members organisation representing Solicitors and Legal Executives working within the field of elderly and vulnerable client work. Chris stepped down from the Board in July 2018 after two years of acting as the Director responsible for membership and discipline.
Away from the office, Chris is an ardent music fan, taking an interest in any style or genre, as long as it sounds good. He spends a few hours a week trying to keep fit. Chris is also a supporter of Yeovil Town FC and regrets that this fate awaits his son.
Chris lives with his family and Golden Retriever, Bruce.
