The HK team share their ‘life in lockdown stories’

| Published on June 15, 2020

Humphries Kirk is made up of a great team of people who are brilliant at reacting to and coping with change. To aid our colleagues to feel connected whilst some are working remotely, we asked members of the HK family to share their ‘lockdown stories.

Read on to enjoy our latest submissions. If you have any fun stories, we’d love to hear them!

Sue Nicolson – Solicitor at our Crewkerne office

“Will signings have been interesting! I’ve had 3 signings so far – one through the window, two in gardens at safe social distances and all gloved up. My partner was roped in to act as second witness on all those occasions as we decided it was safer given we are in the same household than asking a colleague. Although we are continuing to deliver our usual services, people have commented that it is hard to sign their usual signatures whilst wearing disposable gloves!”

Kelly Miller – Associate Solicitor from our Wareham office

“I have one client who is a 92 year old man who was unable to go and do his weekly shop himself. I had helped set up a Tesco online account where his carers could log on to do his shopping.
On a few occasions, we were not able to get him a delivery slot, so I would click and collect it for him on a Saturday or early in the morning before office hours and drop it to his house.
I know it’s only a small thing but I care about our clients and want to ensure that they’re safe.”

Darren Francis – Solicitor at our Poole office

“Margaret and I went to witness a client’s Will signing about two weeks’ ago, standing back from the doorstep of our client’s home whilst she signed in our presence. It was an interesting experience involving leaving the Will in a sealed envelope on the porch, ringing the bell and stepping back so the client could open the letter, sign her Will (resting on a tea tray from the kitchen!) and then re-sealing the envelope and leaving it on the porch for us to sign, collect and take away once she had safely returned inside.”
