Humphries Kirk paralegal takes part in RNLI Raft Race to support Dorset Search and Rescue

| Published on August 7, 2017

Matthew Parker, paralegal at Humphries Kirk Bournemouth, took part in the annual RNLI Raft Race at Mudeford Quay.

Matthew was a member of the Dorset Search and Rescue team for the race, as it is the Bournemouth office’s chosen charity of the year. Dorset Search and Rescue work with the police, coastguard and other emergency services in the search and recovery of missing persons, flood water rescue and support at major incidents.

The popular raft race saw 16 entries compete in two heats down the ‘Mudeford Run’ and thousands turned up to watch. All funds raised at the RNLI Fun Day went towards Mudeford’s RNLI station, raising money for the voluntary service.

Matthew Parker, paralegal at Humphries Kirk, commented: “When Dorset Search and Rescue contacted me regarding the RNLI Fun Day to ask if I would be interested in joining their team for the raft race, I was really keen. The Dorset Search and Rescue team are a great bunch and do an incredible job as volunteers in what can be very challenging circumstances; I was delighted to be asked to represent such a worthy organisation.

“The turnout for such a great cause was fantastic and the race itself was great fun despite some very questionable tactics by some of the other teams!”

Paul Martin, fundraising officer at Dorset Search and Rescue, commented: “It was great that Matthew joined us and took part in building the raft beforehand and became part of the crew on the day.”

Humphries Kirk has offices in Dorchester, Crewkerne, Wareham, Swanage, Poole, Parkstone, Bournemouth as well as London and has an international network of lawyers. The firm provides legal expertise to private and commercial clients.
