Humphries Kirk witness a surge in divorce enquiries after the festive period

Leading Dorset and Somerset solicitors firm, Humphries Kirk, has witnessed a surge in divorce enquiries in January following the festive period.

The number of people contacting the firm’s family law solicitors has risen and national trends reflect this. Recent figures from the Office for National Statistics claim that 42 per cent of all marriages end in divorce.

January is dubbed ‘Divorce Month’ and some law firms have even identified a single ‘Divorce Day,’ which typically falls on the first working day back in the office.

Kay Levene, partner and family solicitor at the Bournemouth office of Humphries Kirk, said: “New Year is a time when many of us naturally assess how life is going and see it as a chance to make a new start. Many couples wait until after the Christmas and New Year before initiating a separation, having limped through a tough time over the festive period.”

Humphries Kirk can assist people through every aspect of divorce, from child disputes to financial matters. If you would like to speak with one of Humphries Kirk’s experienced family advisors, the firm is currently offering a free initial consultation in respect of divorce and financial matters.

Kay added: “We’ll make sure that by the time you leave your consultation you will know where you stand, what your options are, the process and the costs involved.”

Humphries Kirk is a law firm with solicitors based at offices in Bournemouth, Parkstone, Poole, Swanage, Wareham, Dorchester, Crewkerne and consulting rooms in Wimborne, Yeovil and London.
