Leading Dorset and Somerset law firm Humphries Kirk sponsored the ‘Making Dorset’ exhibition and launch event of Dorset Visual Arts’ new book ‘50 Dorset Makers’ on Friday June 30th at the historic Wolfeton Riding House near Dorchester.

The exhibition was open to the public on Saturday July 1st and Sunday July 2nd, showcasing 50 of the best designer craftspeople that the county has to offer.

Supported by Humphries Kirk, the aim of the exhibition and book was to bring greater recognition to the country’s renowned crafts community.

Katharine Jones, partner at Humphries Kirk, said: “We were delighted to be involved with the launch of ‘Making Dorset.’ Supporting Dorset Visual Arts is really important to us – this whole initiative has been a long-term aspiration of theirs and we were pleased to be able to help it get off the ground.”

Jem Main, director of Dorset Visual Arts, added: “The book and the exhibition have produced a remarkable response in terms of ambition and enthusiasm to show great design and high quality, handmade objects by the makers. We are grateful to Humphries Kirk and the co-sponsors for helping Dorset Visual Arts get this important contingent of makers better recognised. Many of them have national and international reputations and their talent and business practices add significantly to the Dorset economy.”
