Humphries Kirk solicitor invests in Young Enterprise group at Dragons’ Den event

A solicitor at Dorset and Somerset law firm Humphries Kirk, was one of seven judges at the Young Enterprise Dragons’ Den event in Poole earlier this week.

Jonathan Sherman, who specialises in commercial law including the sale and purchase of businesses, acted as a Dragon, and listened to groups of year-10 students pitching business plans with the hope of winning a £50 investment for their companies. Each group pitched their business plan in under three minutes and then Dragons were given the opportunity to question the groups on their pitches, before deciding which company to invest in.

The event, held at Poole Grammar School, was organised by Young Enterprise as part of a flagship Company Programme, to enable young people to set up their own business and learn about enterprise.

Jonathan chose to invest in Tech Tidy, a group of Poole Grammar School students who designed and created a holder to be used for mobile phones whilst they are charging.

Jonathan commented:

It was a privilege to attend the Young Enterprise Dragons’ Den event for the second year and to meet some exceptional pupils. It was a tough decision, but Tech Tidy impressed me with their creative ideas and professional demeanour. The product that the group had developed is one that I would use myself and I thought the website they had developed,, was easy to use and engaging.”

Humphries Kirk provides legal expertise to private and commercial clients, with offices in Swanage, Bournemouth, Poole, Dorchester, Crewkerne, Parkstone, Wareham and London.
