Humphries Kirk returns as sponsor for Dorchester Literary Festival

Leading Dorset and Somerset law firm, Humphries Kirk, is joint co-sponsor of the Dorchester Literary Festival.

The popular festival takes place from Tuesday October 15 to Sunday October 20 in Dorchester, in celebration of the written word. Festivalgoers and book lovers will have the chance to hear stimulating talks and discussions by leading authors in a relaxed setting.

Humphries Kirk is sponsoring the festival in partnership with Duke’s Fine Art Auctioneers. For the last four years, Humphries Kirk has co-sponsored the launch event and this is the first year the leading law firm has sponsored the event as a whole in conjunction with Duke’s.

Katharine Jones, senior partner at Humphries Kirk, commented: “This year we have chosen to sponsor the whole event with Duke’s and we are delighted to be involved with the festival for the fifth year running.

“The festival is an event in the calendar that we always look forward to – it’s such an asset to the town. Humphries Kirk has been situated in the county town for many years and we’re proud to live and work in a town so rich in literary history, having inspired many writers over the years, including Thomas Hardy.”

Authors at this year’s festival include Prue Leith, Linda Geddes, John Wright, Tracy Chevalier and many others.

Janet Gleeson, director of the Dorchester Literary Festival, commented: “With stellar writers such as Prue Leith, Victoria Hislop, Kate Williams, Tracy Chevalier, Carol Ann Duffy, Adam Nicolson, Sir Tim Waterstone and many more coming to Dorchester this year, we are thrilled at the exciting line up in store, and hope there will be something to tempt everyone to come, whatever their interests.”

“The festival draws visitors to the town in increasing numbers, as well as providing entertainment and enlightenment to our local audience. Last year around 3,000 people came to our events – but we couldn’t achieve all we do without the support of local business. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Humphries Kirk. They have supported us from the outset, and this year we are honoured to have them as our joint main sponsors.”

Humphries Kirk has offices in Bournemouth, Parkstone, Poole, Swanage, Wareham, Dorchester, Crewkerne as well as London and has an international network of lawyers.
