Cerne Abbas Music Festival 2015

08/07/2015 - 12/07/2015

Humphries Kirk are a proud sponsor of the Cerne Abbas Music Festival

The 2015 Cerne Abbas Music Festival will honour the centenary of the death of Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, who died fighting for France in June 1915, with a concert reflecting upon the “Great War” and a special double commission. Poet and author James Crowden will create a verse/lyric inspired by the love and cruelly short life (1891 – 1915) of this passionate artist, to form the basis of a commissioned composition for voice and chamber ensemble by a graduate student of the Royal College of Music.

In fact, the 2015 Festival will welcome a group of recent Royal College of Music graduates for the second year running. They will perform alongside the Gaudier Ensemble at some concerts and work with talented local musical youth. So, while we may look back over the achievements of twenty-five years, Cerne Abbas Music Festival is also proud to play its part in supporting the careers of a new generation of musicians.

The twenty-fifth anniversary programme includes a Bach concert featuring cellist Christoph Marks, chamber pieces by Mozart and Bruch, a late-night concert of light American gems from the early twentieth century, and much else, besides.

Full details will be published in March – Friends priority booking opens in April.
