Care is our Concern

Humphries Kirk prides itself on a personal approach to legal advice and a key aspect of this is having client care at the very heart of the firm’s focus.

We recognise that life seems to become ever more complicated by the burdens of bureaucracy and form filling and that for older people, incapacitated and housebound, it’s a responsibility one could well do without. As a result, Humphries Kirk offers the Care is our Concern service to all of our clients.

Care is our Concern is a specialist, sympathetic legal assistance to meet every need of older people, incapacitated and housebound. It is a flexible service tailored to cater for our clients’ individual needs. Clients can choose to have the firm manage all of their financial affairs or obtain assistance on one specific area, such as completing tax returns.

Help offered under Care is our Concern

  • We can check that you or your loved one are receiving everything that you are entitled to and complete any necessary forms related to your entitlement.

  • We can manage your bank/building society accounts, including monitoring interest rates and all income and outgoings.

  • Whether you receive your bills via post or online, we can deal with any queries in relation to your bills and ensure that they are paid on time.

  • If you require advice as to where to invest your money we can point you in the right direction to a professional who can help give you suitable and professional advice.

  • Nobody looks forward to completing their income tax returns but Care is our Concern allows you to hand over this cumbersome task and deal with any HMRC queries and payments.

  • We can offer professional advice on planning your finances and estate to take advantage of tax saving opportunities.

  • If you already have an accountant or broker we can take over communications with them and continue to liaise with them on your behalf.

  • From the breakdown of a household compliance to a leaking pipe, we can arrange for appropriate tradesman to visit you for a one-off repair or to regularly maintain your home bringing you peace of mind.

  • We can offer a review of your finances each year ensuring that everything is in order and where necessary ensure that you get the appropriate advice to continue to effectively manage your finances.

  • We can prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney for you, allowing you to appoint the people you trust to make decisions regarding both your property and financial affairs and you health and welfare. If you do not have anyone who you would consider appropriate to act as your attorney you can appoint some of the partners of Humphries Kirk.

  • Lots of people recognise the importance of having a Will in place but many people either don’t get round to doing one or they forget to review their existing Will. As part of our Care is our Concern service we can either draw up a Will for you or review your existing one.

  • We can contact the organisations that can provide other help (eg shopping or home care) and make contact with the Community Care Manager / Social Worker if required bringing you and your family reassurance that you are receiving the appropriate help.

  • Should you need to move out of your home we can not only assist with the legal aspect of any sale with our experienced conveyancing team on hand but we can also make sure that you find the accommodation which is right for you. We can ensure that you have support throughout the process from visiting residential homes to ensuring that your pets are looked after.
