We are seeking a full-time Private Client Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive NQ – 8 years’ PQE to join the Private Client Department at our Crewkerne office.

The team is managed by a Private Client Partner and comprises 2 other Solicitors along with a Chartered Legal Executive and several Paralegals and support staff.

To be considered, you must have excellent all-round working knowledge of private client law and be comfortable working within a team towards a team target but be equally capable of managing your own caseload independently. Ideally, you will be familiar with digital dictation and be a member of STEP or working towards this qualification.

Family Lawyer (NQ- 5 years’ PQE) – Full Time Poole/Dorchester

Seeking a full time Family Lawyer (Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive preferred) to join our team. The role will primarily be Poole based, but there will be a need to travel locally to other offices including Dorchester. Opportunity for home working is limited.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate must have good overall working knowledge of Family Law with particular experience in financial matrimonial and matrimonial matters.

The level of work makes it ideally aimed at someone circa 2-5 years qualified. However, the role may also suit a bright, competent NQ used to undertaking their own caseload without supervision. The main duties are set out in the job description.

Company Commercial Solicitor (4+ years’ PQE) – Full Time – Dorchester and/or Poole

Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a full time Company Commercial Solicitor with 4+ years PQE at Associate/Salaried Partner level who has proven experience of corporate transactional work. The role will be located at our Dorchester and/or Poole offices with some opportunity for remote working.

The position will involve working within a busy team on a very wide range of company/commercial work, which may include: company and business sales and purchases, contract drafting and negotiation (covering all types of contracts including Terms & Conditions of Sale/ Purchase; Supply/ Distribution/ Agency /Franchise agreements etc), private equity/ investment documentation and other corporate finance related transactions; Shareholders Agreements and disputes, share capital restructuring; employee share option and other incentive schemes; business start-ups, business succession planning; education sector work including academy conversions and multi academy trusts.

Land Law Solicitor (+5-year PQE) – Succession opportunity at Associate or Partner level – Crewkerne

We are seeking a full time Qualified Solicitor (5+ years PQE) for our Land & Property Department in the Crewkerne office.

The successful candidate will be a circa 5+ years’ PQE Solicitor. This is a fantastic, career enhancing opportunity at Associate/Salaried Partner level, therefore, candidates must have extensive overall working knowledge of all areas of Property and Land Law and, preferably, other non-contentious areas of practice.

A knowledge of Agricultural Law would also be desirable.

The position will involve initially working alongside two highly experienced Partners, with the objective of becoming their successor, therefore, candidates seeking a long-term career move are of particular interest.

This role is office based, with limited opportunity to work remotely, therefore you will either currently live within a reasonable commute of Crewkerne or be able to re-locate to the Crewkerne area prior to commencing the position.

Commercial Land & Property Lawyer 2-5+yr’s PQE (Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive preferred) – Full time – Poole or Dorchester

Seeking a full-time experienced Commercial Land and Property Lawyer (Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive preferred) to be based in the Land Department at our Dorchester or Poole office. The role is predominantly an office-based role with some opportunity for remote working.

The position will involve working as one of the key Lawyers within a dedicated Commercial Land and Property team. You must have the ability to manage a full caseload from instruction to post-completion with minimal supervision and will ideally have experience of supervising more junior Lawyers and support staff.

The successful candidate will be at least 2+ years’ PQE (but +5 years PQE ideally) and possess particular knowledge of commercial and/or agricultural property work.

IT Support Assistant (entry level) – IT – Full time – Parkstone

We are seeking a full-time, IT Support Assistant (First Line) to provide firm-wide support. This is an entry-level role and will be office based at our Parkstone site. The role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone to break into the IT/tech field.

The role is varied and fast-moving. You will be supporting the team in solving hardware and software queries from users across the firm via a ticketing system, as well as liaising with third-party contractors and undertaking general ad hoc project work.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Resolving helpdesk calls over the phone, via email and in person
  • Managing your workload, prioritising calls and updating users
  • Undertaking on-boarding processes such as setting up new hires
  • Installing and configuring appropriate software for users
  • Providing user training when required
  • Supporting users with access requests and managing permissions

To succeed in this role, you must have a genuine interest in forging a career within IT and be willing to learn. You may be a career changer, a recent graduate or someone who has undertaken a level 2 or 3 Admin/IT Apprenticeship or similar and are now seeking the next step in your career.

Previous IT experience is not a pre-requisite for this role, as supervision is close at hand and on-the-job training will be provided, however, some previous experience of working in an office environment would be helpful. Additionally, you must have good troubleshooting skills, the ability to communicate technical information in an easy-to-understand way and remain composed when things get busy.

Paralegal – Full time or Part time – Wareham

Due to continued workloads, we are seeking an additional Paralegal for our Private Client Team based at our Wareham office. The role could be full-time or part-time (as part of a Job share).

The role will be to provide comprehensive Paralegal support to our Private Client Lawyers, to assist them with their large and varied caseloads, and to help them in proactively progressing their matter files (within the boundaries of the role). Duties will also include monitoring finances and Work in Progress billing, as well as compliance and document and diary management, therefore candidates must be comfortable undertaking these more routine duties as well as supporting on the more complex tasks.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will be someone who has extensive experience of preparing private client documentation on their own initiative at support level. Law Graduates or those studying CILEX, who possess previous work experience within Private Client law may also be considered, as some training can be provided. Candidates must have excellent client service skills, including call handling, and will ideally have the ability or interest in undertaking basic client meetings. In order to apply, you must have completed a degree (in any field) or be able to verify predicted results.

Routes/ Length of Contract

We can offer several lengths of contract, to meet the 24 months qualifying Work experience criteria, depending on what stage you are at in your studies. For those needing to study towards SQE 1/ SQE 2, we allow for one day per week to study.

  • 24 month contract – If you have passed your LPC or SQE 1 and 2 by start date
  • 27 month contract – If you have passed SQE 1 but wish to study for SQE 2
  • 30 month contract – If you seek to study towards SQE 1 and SQE 2 (must have undergraduate degree)

The cost of the SQE 1 and SQE 2 exams are funded by the firm.

The Process:

  • Once you have sent your CV and Covering email, your application will be assessed by our HR Manager, and Training Principal.
  • If your application is shortlisted, we will contact you and ask you to complete our full application process, including a few initial questions, a Personality Profile, a Declaration form and a Case Study.
  • This application process is designed to give you not only an opportunity to sell yourself, but also a flavour of what working for us might be like, and also provides us an opportunity to see your work first hand.
  • If you are successful at this stage, then we will invite you to a face-to-face interview between the dates given above. This will be held with 2 Partners of the Firm as well as the HR Manager and will usually comprise of a competency-based interview and a 10-minute presentation held at one of our offices.
  • We aim to provide feedback to our candidates as soon as possible after interview, but we ensure the outcome is provided to you within 21 days. If we are offering you the role, we will then confirm the details of the offer including start date, first seat details, and anything we need from you beforehand.
